I was going down memory lane and seeing cars on the internet, I decided to make a list of the ones I owned. The 1958 Pontiac probably shouldn't count as I got it before my license and never really drove it. We sold it and got the 1965 Chevy. I downloaded pictures from the web as close as I could get to the exact cars. Who knows, some might be the exact ones as some were local ads.
I got the 1965 Chevrolet Impala Super Sport, which my dad bought me
instead of a Chevelle SS with a 396. He probably knew I would kill
myself with the Chevelle.
We were driving in Chilliwack and someone T-bobed me and totalled the car off. Then I got the green one, identical except colour.
My girlfriend and I spent many evenings in the hatch, laying and looking at the stars. (Carol of course).
Then I got the Gremlin. Bright yellow with the hockey stick stripe down the side. Man that thing went with a V8 under the hood. Most of my old cars I still miss.
Then it was time for serious power. An AMX with the Go Package. When you stomped on the gas, a flapper would open on the hood for direct air, for more power.
In school I took auto body shop and painted it a dark brown with heavy metalic. Another keeper. We got married when I had this car.
After marriage it was time for luxury, a fully loaded Buick Regal. I wonder if this is my old one as it is listed for sale in the next town. It was a nice car, other than rust.
With the kids coming along, they were harder to fit into a two door car so we got a Ford LTD wagon with woodgrain sides. What a pig on gas. We had to get rid of it because it sucked the fuel.
Then we got the Volvo diesel. We went everywhere in this thing. It got 49 miles per gallon. We went to Arizona with another couple and four kids in the back. We finally got rid of it when it had 285,000 kilometers on it and saw it driving around town a long time after that.
Then it was minivan time. A Ford Aerostar with all wheel drive. It wasn't too bad other than falling apart. It pulled our travel trailer fine as we went gold panning at Spuzzum with the kids.
We ordered a new Suburban from the factory but their production was way behind schedule on the diesels because the army was ordering so many of the engines for the Hummers. So we bought an old beater Suburban to tide us over (6 months? or more) until the new one came. Carol loved it because we didn't have to care for it. We hauled our goats, mini horses and what have you in it without caring. Just hose it out. Our daughter had an accident with it. We just kicked the bumper straight and were fine to go. The other car was totalled. (VW Jetta).
Then our Suburban finally came, a nine seater for us and four kids plus who ever else came along. It always seemed full. As the kids left home, we found ourselves driving with just one child back there so we knew it was time to downsize.
We then got a Jeep Grand Cherokee. It was a pig on fuel also. With two boys in the back, now over 6 feet tall, it was a little cramped.
We got a GMC Safari van in all wheel drive to give the boys more leg room. It too was poor on fuel so we got something more powerful to pull our trailer.

We got a bigger trailer (30 ft 5th wheel) so we got the Dodge Ram 3500 with the Cummins Diesel. I love the truck but hate the company, they don't honour their warranty. I bought it for the Cummins but the problem is the rest is still a Dodge. This is probably the vehicle we have spent the most money on for repairs. New engine, new air conditioner, new rear end, new front end, new transmission, new torque converter.
Now for our fun collectibles. This is my Nissan S-Cargo van. Right hand drive, imported from Japan. I took this picture for an RV dealer for advertising.
Carol has a Toyota Sera. Another right hand drive imported from Japan. Fun to drive. It has factory gull wing doors. only 16,000 of there were made.
